There is no doubt that snacking is an extremely dynamic category with consumers seeking new and innovative products alongside traditional favourites and healthier snacks alongside indulgent treats.
As a snacks wholesaler we are always on the look-out for new snack brands and products that offer something a little different from the norm.
One new addition to our snacking list is innovative crispy seasoned insect brand Jimini’s.
Predicted by many to be a key snacking trend this year and beyond, insects are a highly sustainable food source, a fabulous source of protein and rich in minerals.
Mercedesz Bondi, UK sales director at Jimini’s is confident that once people have tried the snacks they will keep on buying them. “Unfortunately people have watched too many ‘jungle challenges’ with live wiggling insects, giving them an unrealistic view about eating insects.
“Our snacks are crispy, literally like eating a crisp, with fabulous natural flavours to provide a tasty, nutritious snack.”

Also new to our wholesale range is I love snacks, a range of healthy, natural snack packs that are just perfect for those who like to ‘graze’ during the day or to pop in your bag at home or at work for when you are looking for a taste sensation.
Amanda Cook, founder of I love snacks, explains what inspired her to launch the range last year: “I wanted to create a range of single serve snacks that tasted fantastic, used only natural quality ingredients and appealed to the health conscious consumer.
“We started with olives, and then extended the range to include pineapple, mango, dark chocolate nibs and smoked almonds.”
The eye-catching packaging makes the products ideal to stock as a complete range with the individual serving size encouraging shoppers to pick up a selection of their favourite snacks.

Another brand new to us this year is the ‘piggin’ excellent Snaffling Pig Co. As the name suggests, these products are all about pork, to be more exact, awesome tasting pork crackling and rinds.
Set-up by three mates in 2014, the company received a massive boost to its ambitions following a successful pitch on Dragon’s Den which secured money, body and mind investment from Nick Jenkins.
Co-Founder and Chief Mischief Maker, Andy Allen is chuffed that the dream has become a reality. “We wanted to create a snack business that stood out from the crowd. That provided a modern twist on an old classic that we loved. That was jam packed with taste and texture. And so Snaffling Pig came to life.”
