This month, we’ve been getting to know a bit more about one of our most recent customers, Greens Stores, to find out why they decided to stock fine food and how it is going so far.
Greens Stores is a small, independent general village store and Post Office, based in Bassingham. Situated in a beautiful village, business owners, Michael Saunders and Tracy Raybould, suspected adding a premium range of fine food to the store would be well received by their customers.
After visiting the National Convenience Show and Farm Shop & Deli Show in April and discovering lots of new brands, Tracy found that she could order the majority of these through Cotswold Fayre and so decided to place an order and trial some grocery products too.
Tracy says: “Our new premium range from Cotswold Fayre is going down very well with our customers. I was really impressed with the quality of the products available and it seems my customers are too!
“Following the positive feedback from customers, I find that I’m ordering more each time to keep broadening the range… and I don’t see this stopping any time soon!”
Greens is stocking a range of products from soft drinks and snacks to confectionery and store cupboard essentials. Among store cupboard items, she finds that Mr. Filbert’s olive snack packs are proving very popular, as well as Delicious Alchemy’s gluten free porridge oats and muesli bags.
She says: “Before receiving my first order from Cotswold Fayre, the only thing I was slightly nervous about was whether my customers would like the products enough to pay that bit extra. I needn’t have worried as it has since been proven that people are happy to pay a little more for higher quality products that are well-packaged and look great on-shelf.
“For instance, my first order of Emily’s Crisps sold out in store in a day! We’ve also gone from stocking just two flavours of the range of treats from Merangz to the full range in the space of just a month!
“To help spread the word that there are new products to try in store we always make use of displays and also social media, in particular Facebook. We mostly post pictures on Facebook of our latest products or offers to reach a wider audience. The products we are stocking from Cotswold Fayre are also great for this purpose as they are always aesthetically pleasing and take a great picture.”
