Granny used to say, “Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper.” This taught Rude Health two important things: the first was to make breakfast as brilliant as possible. The second was only to visit granny at lunchtime.
If you’ve never noticed the way the oats taste in your muesli, then you’ve been eating the wrong muesli. When you think about it, most of what you eat in muesli is the base. If it’s not right, then all the fancy nuts and berries in the world won’t make much of a difference. For the Rude Health base they use a mixture of oats, rye and barley to create a blend of flavours and textures that you’ll notice the first time you try it.
Here are some of our favourite blends available from organic food supplier and wholesaler Cotswold Fayre:
Organic Early Bird Muesli: Start the day light and fresh with this blend of toasted oats, roasted nuts, frisky fruits and seeds. To make Early Bird, Rude Health took their famous muesli base and added toasted oats and spelt flakes to give it a light, crispy crunch. The roasted hazelnuts add to the light, toasty flavour, while the seeds and fruit give you something interesting to get your tongue around.
Organic Muesli No Flaming Raisins: Raisined out? Then this is the muesli for you. Rude Health scrapped the sultanas and removed the raisins, which left more room for apricots, apples, almonds, mangoes, dates and brazil nuts. With so many new flavours in your bowl, you may never miss the little flamers.
Organic Muesli No Nuts: Nut Free If you’d like a softer, smoother start to the day, may we gently suggest you begin here? It’s a naturally sweet blend of organic grains, seeds and fruits: everything you’d expect in a muesli, except nuts. Its apple, apricots, dates and raisins combined with a sprinkling of seeds for a delicate texture. This is a muesli fit for a king, if that king really didn’t like nuts.
Organic Muesli The Ultimate: Brace yourself, this one’s going to blow your pyjamas off. The Ultimate Muesli has 23 ingredients, so every spoonful is a whole new experience.
Organic Porridge Morning Glory: Once there was a perfect, pure porridge. One day it met a blend of barley, rye and quinoa flakes, and they hooked up with some sesame, pumpkin and poppy seeds. The whole thing became complex and utterly delicious. If Morning Glory doesn’t toss your caber, nothing will.
Organic Porridge Fruity Date: Fruity Date is a warm, sensual start to the day which will leave you glowing all over. Its silky blend of oatmeal and oats is perfectly complimented by dates, apricots and apple pieces, with a dash of cinnamon to make this a truly exotic experience.
